Review: MIAMI, MISTLETOE & MURDER by Katie Reus

Katie Reus is an author in which I will automatically buy any new books that come out since I love her writing. She writes awesome romantic suspense and paranormal romance. Miami, Mistletoe and Murder is the fourth book in the Red Stone Security series and features Travis and Noel. If you have read the others, you won’t be disappointed with this one. It could be read as a standalone as well since there are not a lot of secondary characters in this book.

MMMI really liked the buildup of the relationship between Travis and Noel. Even for a novella, there was some great character and relationship development. Travis was given a vacation and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. He can now get serious about courting Noel without fear that he has to leave the country on a job for Red Stone. When he meets up with Noel, he finds out she has been called by the girl she sponsors in the Big Sister program about a threat from her mother’s ex boyfriend. Travis and Noel head over to check out the situation. From there, the story moves very quickly.

I liked how Travis and Noel’s romantic relationship started out slow and they got to know each other first. Neither of them had overwhelming lustful thoughts about each other, which I thought was more believable. I tend to like the romance/courting stage and getting to know one another before they have serious intimate thoughts about each other in a book. The only intimate scene in this book was written very well and really matched the characters.

Travis is such a sweetheart and Noel understands him very well. They would have been a great couple to follow in a full length novel. The piercing Katie mentions in this book sure got talked about at my office after I read this. It was fun to read. If you are looking for a Christmas romantic suspense to read this year, I recommend you check out Miami, Mistletoe & Murder. For just 99 cents at Amazon or Barnes & Noble, how can you resist?
