Operation Sheba by Misty Evans is probably one of my all time favorite books. Adrienne Giordano introduced me to Misty’s books and am so thankful! If you haven’t read any of her books I strongly recommend you start with this one.
Because of this book I went on to read all Misty’s other books (including the Urban Fantasy genre I hadn’t read in the past). She has such a great writing style. I enjoy books like this where men (or women) sometimes have to straddle the line of what is legal/lawful for the sake of whomever or whatever they are saving. I was worried that the book might be too long when I looked at the number of pages, as sometimes longer books seem to be filled with fluff, but this one had me reading every word and it all seemed relevant to the story. There were so many storylines going on that all weaved together you couldn’t help but keep reading!
Conrad Flynn. I absolutely love this character and have loved reading the other stories with him in them. He is a hot shot spy that was created for fieldwork. He is one of the best in the business but now we are left to wonder if he took things too far. Did he go rogue? Or does he have a master plan. When he comes back to Julia we know he has plan that isn’t about him but a greater purpose. I love how he is referred to as The Great Conrad Flynn because he is always saving someone. Conrad loves Julia with everything he is. You can see that from the beginning and he doesn’t stop. He will do anything to keep her safe and out of Michael’s bed. Michael is both Conrad and Julia’s boss.
Julia Torrison. She is one tough woman and a kickass spy. She and Conrad are great together in the field. She hates office work but when Conrad faked his own death she had no choice but to be pulled out of the field and given a new identity. I believe she loves Michael very much, but her heart was given to Conrad a long time ago. She can’t believe he is back and that he wants her to help him with this conspiracy. Conrad and Julia together are so awesome. I rarely read about a couple that is meant to be together more than them. They balance each other so well. The intimate scenes were nicely done and appropriate throughout the book.
My favorite scenes were definitely of Julia and Conrad’s private moments, including the scene in which Conrad comes back to find Julia. The comic relief character Ace was a hoot. He isn’t a spy but is the wheel man. Everyone needs an Ace in their lives. Misty does such a good job balancing the romance and suspense in this book which made it believable. This story would make a great movie. If you are looking for a romantic suspense read that involves hot shot spies try Operation Sheba!

About the Book:
Julia Torrison, codename Sheba, is keeping secrets. Seventeen months ago she was one of the CIA’s super agents, facing down dangerous terrorists with her partner and lover Conrad Flynn. But a mission was blown, literally, with a bomb Julia built. Conrad died.
Yanked back to Langley and given a new identity, she is now the Counterterrorism Center’s top analyst, spending her days at CIA headquarters and her nights in her boss’s bed. Her former life as a secret agent and bomb-maker has been sealed off with her heart. Conrad Flynn, codename Solomon, has his own secrets. For starters, he’s not dead.
Going under the deepest cover possible, he faked his own death to save Sheba’s life. Now he must tear that new life apart and ask for her help to hunt down a traitor.
Is Con a rogue operator or a just jealous ex-lover looking for revenge? Julia must risk everything for the man who still holds her heart in order to decide. Drawn into a web of seduction and betrayal, she is forced to play the spy game of her life, flushing out an Agency mole and stopping a hostage situation using nothing more than her iPod and her intuition.
