Review & Giveaway: UNBOUND by Dale Mayer

Updated – Congratulations to Rachel, the winner of UNBOUND!  Thanks to those who participated!

I am pretty new to Dale Mayer‘s books but I can tell you I will be reading more of hers in the future after this one! If you are looking for a good romantic suspense read, I recommend you try Unbound. Today, Dale is giving away a digital copy to one lucky commenter!

Official Summary:

Go ahead. Take Charge of your life. Move forward…if you can…

Changing her future means letting go of her past. Karina heads to a weekend seminar and discovers the speaker is the person she needs to move on from. But she soon realizes bigger issues are facing her…

Brian has moved on, at least he’d believed he had… until he sees Karina in his audience…and realizes he’s been lying to himself.

Passion pulls them together, love binds them together, but a revengeful enemy determines to keep the two apart…and destroy them both.

So Many Reads Review:

I was surprised with this book.  It started out pretty tame, not much action or suspense happening (I was expecting action since I knew it was a romantic suspense), just the build-up of relationships.  I got a little frustrated with the hero, Brian, during this time.  He was nice, but wasn’t really going after Karina like he wanted her. Luckily, about the time I was REALLY frustrated with him and wondering if he was going to be like this through the whole story, Brian’s friend Mark stepped in and said to him exactly what I was thinking.  Boy am I glad he did.  Things really started to take off after that.

Karina impressed me. After her first encounter with Brian at the beginning of the book my heart broke for her. I couldn’t believe he did what he did! Karina attended one of his conferences and it showed real strength to face him after so many years and such heartbreak.  Karina not only made a great impression on Brian but she also made some great friends who helped her change her life. Karina really went after her dreams which is why I admired her so much. She became more confident and bold with her feelings too, which served her well in her relationship with Brian.  I love reading about stories like this. They are so motivating!

Karina and Brian were in a good place in their lives and riding the high of getting reacquainted with one another when an enemy from their past surfaces and is determined to punish them for his own unhappiness. Enter the suspense part of the book.  Dale is good at writing creepy guys that even while knowing it is just a book, you can’t help but look over your shoulder or scout out the cars around the parking lot.

Dale did a great job of keeping my interest in Unbound with a good balance of romance and suspense. There were twists, turns, ups and downs.  Just when I thought the book was coming to an end something else happened that caused me to gasp. The ending of the book was absolutely perfect. It tied up everything left that needed to be said and gave me that warm and happy feeling that we all love in a romance book. If you are looking for a romantic suspense book with passion and a strong, motivating heroine, I recommend you try Unbound!

I’ve read Unbound, and feel the same about it. Great book!

I’ve been motivated by more than one speaker to be positive and persistent. It’s made a difference in my life.

A good speaker can make or break a conference. I have been to some great ones and others that bore me a little. Thanks, Edie!

Every time I go to a conference, seminar or presentation on human trafficking, it renews my passion to make modern day slavery a thing of the past. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my own life, I forget what my goals are with this particular issue. It always motivates me to do more.

I love Dale Mayer! I haven’t had a chance to read a lot for pleasure lately but I have a few of hers I haven’t gotten to yet and intend to this summer.

Hi Rachel – Thank you so much for stopping by. I didn’t know human trafficking really even happened until a few months ago. I had read about it in books but never really thought about my daily little life in a bubble. Thanks for commenting!
