Review: WRECKED by Shiloh Walker

So I finally read a Shiloh Walker book – Wrecked. I have been watching her name pop up around my reader/author community for the past year but just haven’t had the chance to snag one of her books to read. Wrecked was calling my name though. I saw it everywhere – twitter, facebook, blogs, etc. I couldn’t get it out of my mind, so I finally dropped everything on my TBR list that I had to read for reviewing purposes and read Wrecked. So glad I did.

15812177As my first book from Shiloh Walker I didn’t really know what to expect. I wasn’t sure if it would be really hot or really sweet or somewhere in between. It was both and I loved it. I loved the hot, hot scenes that were wonderfully done. I loved the sweet, romantic scenes that made me melt. The writing was easy to follow and the characters were well developed and made you feel their emotions as if you were in the story. Zach and Abby have been friends forever. They have always been there for one another through ups and downs. There are no judgments between them. Just pure, loving friendship. We get to see what happens when they take things a little further than friendship in this story.

When I picked up Wrecked, I was trying to figure out how a whole book that people are raving over could be based on the friends to lovers plot without sounding like a lot of other friends to lovers stories out there. Well, it worked. It wasn’t like other books with a similar plot.  It was different. It was really, really good and I honestly could not put it down. I read it in about a day even though I did have to sneak peeks at my phone throughout the day while I was at work or waiting for an appointment to read a few pages here and there.

There are so many things I liked about this story but I don’t want to spoil it for those yet to read it so I am trying to share enough but not too much in this review. I had some absolute favorite parts that have affected my personal life. There were times I was reading this book when I laughed, cried, and yelled in my head at the characters. The intimate scenes were very well written for the characters and the story. They were hot and romantic and I think they truly spoke to the love and respect that Zach and Abby had for one another. I am picky about the love scenes I read – I don’t like too many in a contemporary romance and I like them to have meaning, and these were good.

The secondary characters were enjoyable to read about as well. I loved Marin’s friendship with Zach and Abby and her ability to tell them both the truth no matter what they wanted to hear. I really liked Zach’s brother Zane’s role in the story. He was put in a tough position with Abby and it turned out so good. I really hope that there will be more books with these characters because I am not ready to let them go. Bottom line – if you are looking for a contemporary romance that is both sweet and hot at the same time, I highly recommend you try Wrecked by Shiloh Walker. You will not regret it.

My husband and I were friends for a couple of years before we started dating 🙂
I’ve also seen this author’s name around the blogs but haven’t read any of her books. That will change after reading your review. I’ll look for this book. Great review!
