Character Interview & Giveaway: AVENGING ANGEL by Cynthia Eden

Update – Congratulations to “raonaidluckwell” for winning a copy of Avenging Angel!  Thank you to all who participated!

We have something special for you today – an interview with the lovely, spunky angel, Marna from Avenging Angel by Cynthia Eden. Cynthia is also giving away a copy of Avenging Angel to one lucky commenter!

Interview with Marna:

Amy (with So Many Reads): Thank you for joining us today, Marna. I know Tanner keeps you close but am glad you were able to get away for a few minutes to be here.

Marna: Thanks so much for having me! 😉 And you know Tanner, his bark is way worse than his bite…normally.

Amy: To start, can you tell the readers a little bit about what happens to an angel when he/she loses their wings?

Marna: It’s hell. Seriously. Well, it was to me, anyway.  When our wings are gone, we can’t return to heaven, so we have to stay in the mortal realm. Without those wonderful wings, we lose our immunity to emotions—that means we are hit with every feeling imaginable. Rage, grief, love.

Amy: Did you ever feel as though you were judging Keenan, Sammael, or Azrael (from the first three books) for falling? If so, how do you see things differently now?

Marna: Sometimes…I envied them.  Not because I wanted to fall—I didn’t. I loved my life as an angel. But they got to be with the humans more. They were able to walk side by side with them. The idea of doing that—it was tempting. Oh, if only I had known what truly waited! I would never have envied them.  Because I didn’t realize just how dangerous their lives were until I lost my wings.

Amy: In Avenging Angel you sure had your work cut out for you. Not only were you on Earth against your will but then you had someone framing you for murder. You didn’t seem to have any pity parties for yourself, but did you secretly wish you were back in Heaven?

Marna: There were more than a few times that I did. Heaven was safe. Heaven was secure. There is no pain or fear there but…even when I was afraid, I was alive. More alive than I’d ever been. So being earthbound hurt. It terrified me, but let’s just say I learned to adjust—especially with Tanner’s help. He had my back.  And when you’ve got a shifter like him close, you start to feel pretty safe.

Amy: What is it about Tanner that has you wanting to stay on Earth?

Marna: When I’m with him, I stop fearing. I know that he’d do anything, anything, for me.  I don’t think anyone else could ever love me the way that he does. So totally and completely.

Amy: Has Tanner calmed down a bit after all was said and done? He was pretty tightly wound during most of the book, not that I could blame him. He loves you.

Marna: Hmmm…I guess he’s calm, as calm as he can get.  He still has his wild moments, but with him, I think that’s to be expected.  To be honest, I rather enjoy those wild moments of his…

Amy: What is next for you and Tanner?

Marna: He says that he will show me the world. I don’t have the heart to remind him that I’ve—you know—been around for centuries and seen everything.  But perhaps this time, I can see the world through his eyes.  I think that will be nice.  And maybe I’ll show him a few things, too.

Amy: Do you think we will see you in future stories that Cynthia writes or do you plan to lay low and out of the limelight for awhile?

Marna: I’m not sure…but I wouldn’t count me as out just yet.

Amy: Anything you want to tell the readers about your story?

Marna: Yes, thank you! Thank you for giving me a chance to tell my story!

Amy: Thank you so much for joining us here at So Many Reads!

Marna: It has been a pleasure! 😉

I would help others of course!

    1. Amy

      That is nice of you!

  2. raonaidluckwell

Good question – I would try not to use the abilities for bad. I imagine that would be difficult when faced. Guess I would use it to help those less fortunate

    1. Amy

I think most of us would feel the same way.

  3. Donna Worthington

I’m sorry, I would like to say I would only use my abilities for the greater good, but I would use them for myself and people I love first. Hey, I’m just being honest.

    1. Amy

I would probably be selfish with them first until and then I would use them to help others. 🙂

  4. Jennifer Treviño

If I had the abilities of an angel I would explore the world while spreading some calm & healing where needed.

    1. Amy

I would definitely explore the world first, too!

  5. TJ Hargett

I would have to agree with Donna and Jennifer, in that order. My family means the world to me, and goodness knows we could all use the help. But, seeing the heartbreak and struggling going on in the world, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help others as well. 🙂

    1. Amy

I imagine being an angel, you would have enough “resources” to go around and help people!

  6. Crystal Scott

    I would protect the children

    1. Amy

I would agree with you! I would want to protect the children, too.

  7. Timitra

I’d help others learn to deal with conflict differently.

    1. Amy

I hadn’t thought about learning to deal with conflict, but that is a good one.

I would find people that are good at heart but due to life have trouble showing it and try to help them let go of the bad so their good could show through. And give them hope

    1. Amy

Very nicely put! We all need hope and a little help at times.
