Interview with Susan:

Amy (with So Many Reads): Hi Susan, and welcome to So Many Reads! As a new-to-me author (and potentially new to my readers), can you tell us a little about what type of books you write?

Susan: Hi! Thx for having me here. 🙂 I write sweet, contemporary romance.

Amy: I know authors don’t usually like to pick a favorite book of theirs, but in the Better Date than Never series, do you have a favorite story? Maybe one that you can relate to the most or a character that you have a soft spot for?

Susan: Every time I write a new book, I think there’s no way I’ll love the new story as much as I loved the last one. Each time I’ve been wrong. Each heroine is special….Ellen, Gina, Rachel, Kristen, and Melanie (so far). By the end of each heroine’s story, I’ve delved so deep into her world that I’m weepy at having to move onto the next. Since it’s a series, I’m lucky that I get to spend more time with them.

Amy: Can you tell us about Kristen? What is she like?

Susan: Kristen is smart, strong, and her flaw is that she doesn’t like to be wrong. Who does, right? Well, Kristen grew up in chaotic household where her parents’ nightly arguments made her want to crawl into a (quiet) hole. So, as an adult, she worked hard to make safe decisions to ensure a calm, stable life for herself. Imagine her distress when she finds out her “perfect” boyfriend is MARRIED.

I’d been a dirty mistress, and hadn’t even known it. I’d thought I was low maintenance, the kind of girlfriend who gave her guy space. But I’d been nothing but a snack to Jake. A candy bar. Turned out the real meal was his wife.” — Kristen Moore, Save the Date

Amy: I love that you list books that you read on your website. Do you have any favorite authors that you would recommend to readers of contemporary romance?

Susan: I’m currently working my way through Kate Perry’s Laurel Heights series, which are a lot of fun. 🙂

Amy: What is coming up for you for the rest of this year? What should we be watching for?

Susan: My upcoming releases are: A Twist of Date (Better Date than Never #5) – August 1, 2013; License to Date (Better Date than Never #6) – October 1, 2013; and Driven to Date (Better Date than Never #7) – December 1, 2013. With demanding deadlines, I’m hoping to avoid getting food poisoning again. I reveled in the joy (not) just prior to Save the Date’s release and with four days couped up miserable in bed (watching Sex & the City reruns), it’s amazing I was still (mostly) sane when my book was released.

Amy: Thank you so much for the interview and congratulations on the series and Save the Date!

Susan: Thank you so much. Hope you enjoy Kristen’s story, and happy reading!!

About the Book:

Kristen swears off men, but temptation swoops in when her sexy friend Ethan starts flirting with her.

Kristen knows men hide things. Case in point, her last boyfriend turned out to be married. Just like anyone else, Kristen is devastated. However, since Kristen evaluates people for a living, her ex’s duplicity has her searching for a new career as well as swearing off men.

Touring history museums with her sexy friend Ethan doesn’t count, because he has a girlfriend, and has only shown friendly interest in Kristen. He even helps with her career counseling tasks. Although Kristen has a secret crush on Ethan, spending time with him is safe. Until she discovers he’s actually single. Gasp. And now he’s flirting with her, too.

Suddenly, Ethan is way too dangerous. Not to mention tempting. Sure, he seems like sixty shades of perfect, but how’s a girl with bad judgment supposed to detect what skeletons he has in his closet?

Excerpt:

I’d known Ethan around nine months, but still hadn’t figured him out. He seemed too focused. Too together. What was really going on behind those intense mocha eyes? Maybe he was hiding body parts in his briefcase. Which would be a shame, since his briefcase appeared to be genuine leather.

You never knew though. The man admittedly had secrets.

That he refused to show me.

Unable to stand the silence between us any longer, I squinted. “Your secret can’t possibly be as cool as you think it is.”

His fingers froze over the keyboard, and the corner of his mouth turned up as his eyes flicked to mine. “You held out longer than I expected. I knew you still wanted to see it.”

His immediate response, and the look he’d given me, made it clear he hadn’t phased me out while he’d been working. No, he’d been aware of me the entire time.

The realization made me smile. “I didn’t say I wanted to see it. I just doubt it’s as riveting as you claim.”

“It is.” He swiveled until he was facing me, then the corners of his mouth tipped up. “I’m not showing you, though, until you admit you’re dying to know about it.”

I pursed my lips, and shook my head. “Not really.”

Dying might be overstating it. Or not.

He checked his watch. “I’m pretty much done here, and I have an errand to run. Before we go, do you have any questions about the office? Or the law?”

My heart sank, but I sat up quickly. “Nope. I’m good.”

“Okay, then.” He closed his laptop, slid it next to one of the files in his briefcase, then slipped his hand into mine. “Let’s get some dinner.”

Dinner? With me? And did he notice he was holding my hand?

No I have fallen on love with a friend

  2. Krista

Nope. My friends fall in love with guys that don’t have any single, hot friends, which is very inconvenient for my single self.

  3. Ada

No, never have fallen for a friend before, although I know of others who have fallen and married their friends. Thanks for the chance to win!

    Happy reading, everyone! 🙂
