One Year Blog Anniversary with Giveaway!

Update: Congratulations to Ki Pha for winning a $10.00 gift card to Amazon! Thank you to all of you who stopped by to wish me well and for your support over this past year.

It has been one year since I launched So Many Reads into the world and boy has it been a ride. This past year has turned out to be nothing like I had planned, but so much better than I could ever expect. So, as I look back on this year as a blogger, what have I learned?

I have learned how to make my book images all the same size. Only took me about 8 months for that. πŸ˜‰

I have learned to be patient. Slow and steady wins the race most of the time and when I try to fast track things, it doesn’t always work.

I have learned to enjoy the journey and live in the moment. Opportunities have presented themselves to me when I wasn’t even looking for them.

I have learned that it is the people who matter – my readers and the authors I introduce to you. The people are the best part of blogging. I used to think that by setting up this blog I would someday have an “in” with publishers and get to read a lot of books before they came out, be taken seriously as a reviewer, etc. A year later, I still don’t have an in with publishers, but I have something even better. Β I have gotten to know so many incredible authors. I would not trade my relationship with these authors for all the books in the world. I have also gotten to know a few bloggers and some readers along the way and hope to continue to build those relationships.

I have learned that when I am overwhelmed, I need to go back to the most basic question. Why did I start this blog? Simply it is because I love to get lost in a love story or an adventure. I love being able to escape reality if only for an hour each day.Β My goal at So Many Reads is to help you find your next story to get lost in and to introduce you to some amazing authors.

Thank you to all the readers, bloggers and authors for making this past year so much fun!

To celebrate the one year anniversary of So Many Reads, I am giving away a $10.00 Amazon or Barnes & Noble e-gift card to one commenter. Β Just reply below and tell me what blogs you have learned about this year and what makes them special (and mine doesn’t count, so no trying to kiss). Is it the reviews? The giveaways? Interviews with authors or characters? The camaraderie with the other readers? What?

Giveaway will be open until 11:59 pm on Friday, December 13, 2013. Winner will be contacted via email and announced on the blog.

  1. Woohoo!!!!! Happy 1 year Anniversary!!!! Has it really only been 1 year, really?!! Congrats congrats congrats!!!! I hope for more awesomeness from you in the coming future~

Ahh a new blog I found this year was Mary Chen’s Buried Under Romance. I didn’t actually found it but I became friends with Mary through Goodreads and then onto FB. She then made the blog and I love it! We became fast friends and even co-host a meme together. She loves Historical romances and is a total pro at writing reviews. Even if she’s fairly new to the romance genre and to blogging, she’s going to go places with her blog. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, Ki! You have been so kind to me this year. I will check out Mary Chen’s blog. I am sure with your love for Historical Romance you guys have a lot in common. πŸ™‚

  2. Happy Anniversary, Amy! My books have been on several review-only tours this year, so for me it’s the reviews. I appreciate bloggers so much for helping to get the word out and for their great reviews. You’re at the top of my list!

    • Thank you, Edie! You have been so fun to get to get to know over the year. I have enjoyed our friendship (and your books!). I have loved watching all your books release this year. I hope you have a fabulous 2014!

  3. Amy, happy anniversary! I can’t believe a whole year has gone by!!!! Congratulations on all you’ve achieved. Your reviews are so well-written and just the right balance of informative without containing spoilers, so bravo.

I have been introduced to a number of new review blogs this year because the reviewers have loved my books and gotten the word out, and I am a regular visitor to a number of them now as a reader.

PS Don’t enter me into your draw, I just wanted to say well done!

    • Hi Michelle! You know that if it wasn’t for you and Magical Musings having a call for reviewers, I would never have even thought about starting my own blog, so thank you and the ladies at MM for allowing me to read and review for you guys. I have learned so much from all of you and hope to soak up so much more knowledge in the future. You have also opened my eyes to some great historical stories. I have loved reading them all and value your friendship dearly!

  4. Congrats! Has it only been a year? That’s amazing. You should be proud of all you’ve accomplished.
