Review & Giveaway: THE DEFENDER by Adrienne Giordano

I enjoyed The Defender by Adrienne Giordano as much as I did The Prosecutor. Penny, who is the sassy defense attorney we met in The Prosecutor, is in hot water again in this book but this time she may not get out of it alive. Luckily she has crossed paths with Special FBI Agent Russell Voigt who finds himself not only extremely attracted to her, but constantly battling her over the case he has just spent over a year building against Colin Heath, con artist.

Killer Cupcake, as Russ refers to her, puts herself, her family and her client in grave danger when she stubbornly puts herself in the middle of Colin’s battle with the law. Once again Adrienne has created an exciting story that keeps you reading even when you know you should put the book down and get some sleep or go do something that is calling you. However, Penny, Russ, Zac, Penny’s brother and the other characters in the book keep you engaged until you find out how it is all going to end.

I so enjoy Adrienne’s style with regard to how we “hear” what the characters are thinking even when they are not saying it. Their wit and humor often had me laughing out loud. I found myself really wondering and getting a little anxious over how they were going to pull this take down of the “bad guy” off. If you like drama and  romance you will enjoy Adrienne’s latest book. It is entertaining to see how she builds Penny’s character from the glimpse you got of her in the last book. Give yourself a few leisurely hours of enjoyment and read this book.

Book Summary:

By all accounts Penny Hennings was the sort of woman FBI special agent Russell Voight went for. Smart, sexy and with just enough sass to keep him honest. Then she went sticking her nose in undercover FBI business. He knew her legal reputation would skyrocket if she won this case. But every move she makes undoes all the work Russell’s put into taking down the city’s biggest crooks. And the criminals they’re after will do anything to avoid the witness stand–including kill. So it’s time to pool their resources and collaborate. Even if working together every day takes them late into the night–and into the line of fire.

  1. I’ve been watching the reruns of Law and Order and L&O SVU for months now–and I love Suits and The Good Wife series. I still prefer reading over TV shows or movies, however. I get much more out of the printed word where my imagination runs rampant! 🙂

  2. I LOVED Penny! in The Prosecutors and was thrilled for her to find such a perfect partner in The Defenders. The plot was excellent but as alway, Adrienne Giordano’s people pull me in from the first words!
