Review: POINT OF RETREAT by Colleen Hoover

Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover picks up where Slammed left off, except this time the story is told through Will’s point of view. Lake and Will are doing the best they can in raising their brothers and trying to balance school with parental duties. Will hasn’t been completely honest about his past with Lake and when an ex-girlfriend re-enters his life, all heck breaks loose. Lake isn’t sure she can trust Will or if they are even together for the right reasons. Can they move past these obstacles and find true love? I think this is my favorite book out of the series so far. I loved Will ‘ s character so I was super excited to see the this book was from his POV.

13372690This book should come with a warning not to read it at bedtime. I decided one night to read a few chapters and just when I told myself to go to bed, chaos ensues. I was freaking out, crying, trying to read faster to see what happened. The result? I ended up staying up to finish the book and was exhausted at work the next day (but it was so worth it!).

I enjoyed reading about Lake and Will struggling to be parents to their siblings. When the boys get suspended from school after defending a friend who was being bullied, Lake and Will are caught between being proud of them and having to punish them. They come up with a fake yelling argument to scare the boys that had me laughing out loud.

If you haven’t read any of Colleen Hoover ‘ s books, you need to go to your library, your bookstore, or grab your ereader. They are a guaranteed great read that will put you on an emotional roller coaster that doesn’t end until the last page.
