I know when I pick up a Jill Shalvis story I will be thoroughly entertained with a fun storyline, hot chemistry, and witty dialogue. Hot Winter Nights was no different.  I have been reading the Heartbreaker Bay series a bit out of order, but they are still so much fun. In Hot Winter Nights, Molly and Lucas are center stage for the readers and their romance and personal challenges are quite engaging.

Molly works at Hunt Investigations behind a computer. She is excellent at her job but wants to be out in the field. Problem is, her boss and her brother don’t think she is ready and would like to keep her safe. Lucas is recovering from being shot weeks ago and is going stir crazy at not being able to get back into the action. What a perfect time for him to tag along with Molly on an unsanctioned (by her boss) case of the “Bad Santa.”

I love romantic suspense stories so I was glad Shalvis added a touch of it to Hot Winter Nights. While it is still very much a contemporary romance, the bit of suspense makes the story so much more interesting to me. She does a wonderful job weaving he romance, personal struggles, and investigation plots together.

Most that read Shalvis’ books want the hot romance and they will get it in Hot Winter Nights. Lucas and Molly have undeniable chemistry, a relatively easy going relationship and just work so well. They feed off one another and it makes you wonder how they survived this long without one another.

If you are looking for a contemporary romance story with a bit of suspense, give Hot Winter Nights a read. You will be hooked and ready for more books in the series!

Review: MAN HUNT by Misty Evans

Man Hunt by Misty Evans is the first in the Spies of Shadow Force series as they form their Nemesis group. It’s fantastic! I am a big fan of anything spy-related so I was glad to see a series like this get started. Evans writes spies so incredibly well.

Ryker and Mia are such interesting characters from the beginning. They both have their secrets, but what spy doesn’t? Evans knows how to pull at a reader’s heartstrings, even when she writes big bad spies and SEALs. Just add in an adorable little boy and a dog who wants to be loved.

Ryker and Mia are forced to work together to bring down an international criminal under the newly formed Nemesis division of Shadow Force International. What makes this story so interesting is that it is Mia’s first undercover operation and she and Ryker have only just met in person a days before they embark on the mission There are a lot of things that can go wrong. Will they get the job done?

What did I like most about Man Hunt? The different plots that unfolded throughout the story. The overall mission was fresh and new as was going with Mia on her first mission. The romance between Ryker and Mia that developed was fun because they had to pose as a married couple. Evans writes some hilarious scenes between the two and also some very touching ones. I laughed a lot, I yelled a few times, and I felt my heart speed up with action and suspense. In the end, I finished the story with so much hope and a full heart. I can’t wait to read another Spies of Shadow Force book!

Tricked by Rebecca Zanetti is my first experience int he Dark Protectors series and boy am I ready to start at the beginning! Imagine my joyous surprise when I learned there are a lot of books in this series! What fun I am going to have reading them!

I wasn’t sure what to expect since I am not a die-hard paranormal romance fan, which means I am pretty picky about what I read in this genre. Well, from the first page of Tricked, I was hooked. I loved Ronni’s toughness even on her deathbed and Jared’s willingness to do what he could to protect her. I wasn’t sure how the two of them would really connect, but holy cow! They have chemistry. They are amazing together. It would be awesome to read a full length novel about the two of them.

Zanetti’s writing was wonderful. I felt that I hung on each word and couldn’t wait to learn the world she had created. What creatures exist? What vampires can and cannot do? And all those other fun things that happen in a paranormal world. The story unfolded at a good pace for a novella and I was intrigued with every page.

If you are looking for a quick paranormal romance that is full of heat and suspense, give Tricked a read!

What a fantastic story! Searing Need by Tracey Devlyn is an entertaining romantic suspense story filled with danger, romance, the great outdoors (of course), Kingstons and Steeles! You also get to experience a little camping while reading this book, a bit of Cost Rica, experience cocky Reid Steele and do a little yoga to relax. Who wouldn’t want to read this book?

Riley is an amazing botanist that comes up on a man camping in he forest while working. This man is on Steele land. Why is he here? Her curiosity gets the best of her and she starts to stalk, study, and eventually interact with him. Coen is a special forces soldier looking for a little rest and relaxation after a terrible mission and was granted it courtesy of the Steele brothers. At least he was until Riley came storming into his life. The romance between Coen and Riley is entertaining from the start. I always love it when I can’t imagine the two characters together when they meet and by the end I can’t imagine them apart.

In addition to the mystery that is Coen, Riley also receives a few visitors that bring lot of crazy with them.  Devlyn is a fantastic story teller. She comes up with such interesting plots and the descriptions she provides makes the reader feel as though they are in the story. The emotions each characters are feeling are so real and raw, too. Devlyn’s characters are always so fascinating to me and I often learn a lot! It’s why I love her books so much!

If you are looking for a unique romantic suspense story filled with mystery, intrigue, a few Steele boys, romance, and a whole lot of danger, give Searing Need a try!

Holy smokes! I am am so in love with Promise Me You by Marina Adair. The story was so unique and had me experiencing so many emotions and feelings while I was flipping pages as fast as I could. Adair writes a captivating romance between two people that couldn’t be in more different places in their lives. The icing on top was Mackenzie’s dog Muttley. It was just so good.

Hunter and Mackenzie have been friends for awhile. They wrote songs together and have the same love of the music industry. She has also been in love with Hunter forever. Unfortunately, when the story begins, he is going to marry someone else. Fast forward a few years and the two meet up again after not seeing each other. Hunter is expecting to pick up where they left off but little does he know that Mackenzie’s life is very different than it was before.

I really enjoyed Mackenzie’s personal journey as it was so outside of what I know. I can’t imagine being in her shoes. I found myself aching for her at times when she was frustrated and feeling defeated. I loved watching Hunter learn Mackenzie’s world and what he could do to support and help her.  Adair writes the romance and intimate scenes between the Hunter and Mackenzie so perfectly for the story and the characters.

If you are looking for a fantastic contemporary romance story to read, give Promise Me You a try. The writing is smooth, the story moves along at a great pace, the romance is sexy, and you will be left with so much hope and love.
