Review: INSIDER by Olivia Cunning

n Insider by Olivia Cunning, having spent years raising her special needs sister, Toni Nichols has decided to spread her wings and explore the world. Her family ‘s publishing firm just bought the rights to publish an interactive biography on Exodus End, one of the biggest metal bands out there. Toni convinces her mom that she, not her editor is perfect for the job. Now she’s on tour with the band and she is so out of her element it’s not even funny. Especially when it comes to bassist Logan Schmidt.  Is Logan ready to settle down with just one woman?  Can Toni gain the trust of the band?

insider-236x360I have been waiting for this book for forever!  Cunning mentions Exodus End so many times in the Sinners series that it was agony waiting on it. It was oh so worth the wait though. I absolutely loved Toni’s character. She is such a shy,  introverted person with a big heart. It was great seeing her stand up for herself.  The chemistry between her and Logan in insanely hot. Logan took a bit to grow on me. He’s kind of an arrogant jerk, especially after the first time he sleeps with Toni. As the book  progressed, it became clear why he acts the way he does.

Review & Giveaway: Break Me Down by Roni Loren

In Break Me Down by Roni Loren, Sam Dunbar likes being in control, whether at work or in her private life. That need for control lead her to training as a domme with the sexy Gibson Andrews. Gibson submits to no one and certainly not Sam, even though he has very strong feelings for her. When Gib learns that Sam was attacked outside of the bar she manages, he immediately tracks her down. He promises to be her lover for one week and give over complete control. But these two are fighting numerous demons as well as their attraction to each other. Will they be able to find common ground and love?

BreakMeDown2This is the first time I have read a book where the heroine is a domme. I really wasn’t sure what to expect, especially during the sex scenes. Not only were the sex scenes very well written, but I didn’t feel silly or creepy reading about Gib being Sam’s submissive.

Ultimately the book is about love and overcoming your past. Sam was orphaned as a child and never adopted, bouncing from foster home to foster home. Gib had a verbally abusive father, who still haunts him to this day. The two characters had a lot of emotional baggage to work through, especially Gib who saw his submission as a sign of weakness. I found myself cheering when these two finally found their HEA. Continue reading

Review by Candy

In Payback, Trevor and Cassie Bauer are working hard on a case, spending hours upon hours in front of their computers. As the saying goes, all work and no play makes for a boring life. Trevor suggests a walk through a nearby park and a movie. After some prodding,  Cassie agrees and while on their way to the movies, they grab some ice cream. Cassie puts on quite a show while eating it and Trevor decides that a little payback is in order when they get to the movies. Just how far will he go to get back at his wife?

11705509_835401953224208_4441194331447308691_oAll I can say is WOW. This quick short story will have you squirming in seconds. If a normal love scene is a small campfire,  Almeida and Aubrey dump a can of gasoline on it and then skip away leaving you wanting more. It’s that hot.

Trevor is in full Alpha Geek mode in this short. He knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. There is  great narration about how Trevor has learned what Cassie likes and how he uses all of the tricks to exact his payback. It is the perfect cocky response to a situation that readers have grown to love and expect from Trevor.

Review: BETA by Jasinda Wilder

At the end of Alpha by Jasinda Wilder, Kyrie returns to Roth even after she learns his secrets. The two embark on a world tour until Roth’s arms dealing past comes back to haunt them. Kyrie wakes up one morning at his chateau in France and discovers that Roth has been kidnapped. The kidnapping sets off a chain of events that have devastating consequences for the couple. Can their love survive these tests?

Beta-Amazon-GR-SW-653x1024Holy crap! Beta, the second book in the series, grabbed me from the first sentence and didn’t let me go until the last one. I had no idea Wilder could write such intense romantic suspense. The whole book reads like an action movie. In fact during the car chase scene, I totally heard the James Bond theme when Harris got put of his car and killed the bad guy.

In addition to all the suspense, Kyrie and Roth heat up the pages just like they did in Alpha. This time though, the scenes seemed more potent,  especially because of what the couple was going through.

Review: ALPHA by Jasinda Wilder

Like a lot of people, Kyrie is literally one disaster away from being homeless. In Alpha by Jasinda Wilder, she is trying to support her brother in college and her mother in a mental hospital is not easy. Then one day,  after loosing her job a mysterious check appears from VRI Inc. No letter explaining why. Just a check for $10,000. Unable to meet her financial obligations,  Kyrie deposits the check. More checks arrive with a warning, “You belong to me.” Kyrie deposits them all and one day a stranger comes to “collect” her for his employer. Feeling obligated and scared, Kyrie goes with the man and meets her benefactor,  the reclusive billionaire Valentine Roth. The attraction between the two is unmistakable and they soon engage in a very hot affair.  But Roth is hiding a terrible secret from Kyrie. What will she do when she finds out?

Alpha-Amazon-GR-SW-655x1024When I attended Penned Con 2014, Alpha had just come out and a lot of people were talking about it. Having just discovered Wilder, I put the book on my TBR list and didn’t think much about it. When I saw Amazon had a sale on it, I snatched it up immediately.

The intimate scenes between Roth and Kyrie are super, super hot. Hot as in crank up your AC, then stick your head in the freezer, then take a cold shower and you might cool down. Wilder is very descriptive in these scenes and a couple of times I had to go on Urban Dictionary to see what she meant by certain slang words.
