If you haven’t read Jamie Farrell yet, you are missing out. She writes wonderful stories filled with humor, heartache, passion, and hope. Her characters are always unique and I love living life with them. Spiced is the latest in Farrell’s Misfit Brides series and as you can imagine from the title is deliciously sassy and entertaining! Pepper and Tony, the main characters, had me both laughing and tearing up at times. They are both such fighters but even the best fighter can feel defeated sometimes.

Pepper and Tony are two people I did not imagine working out as a couple based on my idea of what a romance hero and heroine should be, but I should not have doubted Farrell’s storytelling. Spiced just goes to show that what one thinks they need in life to feel safe and secure and what their heart needs can be different things. I ached for what Tony and Pepper were going through personally as they battled demons and feelings of failure and inadequacy. The story of these two characters alone was amazing. When you put the two together into a romance, it was fan-freaking-tastic.

One of my favorite things about the book was watching Tony interact and handle Pepper’s family and Grandmother. What a riot they all were! That alone kept me turning pages. I like my romance books to have some heat physically and Farrell didn’t disappoint. The intimacy between Tony and Pepper was hot, perfectly timed with just the right amount of show. Farrell has quite a talent at balancing out the sweet and sexy scenes.

I have read the other books in this series and loved seeing many past characters in Spiced! What a treat especially my favorite couple – Will and Lindsay! I also give Farrell a thumbs up for picking Tony’s career. So much fun. If you like contemporary romance that is light-hearted, makes you laugh, sexy, and leaves you with a smile on your face, give Spiced a read!

Review: HER REBEL HEART by Jamie Farrell

If you are looking for an explosive, fun, contemporary romance story a little bit redneck and a lot military hot, give Her Rebel Heart by Jamie Farrell a read. Who would have thought a hillbilly physics professor who is a star in her field and an ace Air Force pilot would be so entertaining to read about? This author tells the most fantastic stories about characters and situations I have no idea hot to relate to, yet, I am fully engaged in each story. Her Rebel Heart was no different.

Kaci is a woman in a man’s world of academia and science. She loves what she does and wants all of her students to know they can make a difference regardless of their gender. Oh and she also wants her ex-husband, Ron, a chemist, to leave her the heck alone. I love how different Kaci is from many other romance heroines. She can turn on sophisticated charm or the redneck at the drop of a hat.

Lance is biding his time for his next deployment while trying to get over his ex-fiance who left him. He is restless and just wants to get away. He is not interested in jumping back into a relationship, but after one kiss from a hot, sassy, southern girl named Kaci, it may not be completely up to him.

Her Rebel Heart is such a fun book. Sure, there is flirting, intimacy, and heartbreak as all romance books have, but the back and forth between Kaci and Lance is unpredictable up until the very end. The pranks they plan on one another and the challenges they dish out are what keep the reader turning the pages. From pumpkin chucking to stealing hearts, Kaci and Lance are falling hard.

Farrell does a fabulous job in Her Rebel Heart of balancing out the romance in the story along with the personal demons that Lance and Kaci are fighting themselves. The story will entertain you from beginning to end. If you are looking for a fun, sexy, sassy, romance, give Her Rebel Heart a read.

Review: SWEET SERENDIPITY by Jamie Farrell

I just finished Sweet Serendipity by Jamie Farrell with a happy sigh and big smile on my face. Wyatt and Skye are not like any other couple I have read about given the fact they grew up together. This isn’t a typical friends to lovers story. Skye didn’t even like Wyatt most of the time they were growing up! And I totally would have felt the same way as Skye because I don’t always want my husband’s “help”. Add in an adorably accident-prone 9 year old boy and you have an engaging and sweet story that allows you to escape reality and get away to Hope Falls for a bit.

Wyatt and Skye’s romance starts out pretty rocky and memories keep surfacing for each of them as the week goes on – some good and some bad. I adored Wyatt’s nephew Nicholas and how he added to the love story in bringing Wyatt and Skye together without them even realizing it. Things would have gone a lot different if he was not in the story. The intimate moments sprinkled throughout the story had you pulling for both of characters to give into love they held for each other.

Farrell always surprises me with her stories. They are new, fresh, and adorable and Sweet Serendipity is one of them. I don’t always know I am reading a book by Farrell. Each book she writes is so completely original and her characters are so different from her last story. That combined with her great storytelling is what keeps me coming back for more books.

I don’t want to say too much and spoil the story for you, so just know that Sweet Serendipity is the perfect contemporary romance novella with the right amount of sweet and heat for the story and characters. I haven’t read any other Hope Falls Kindle World stories, but after this one I am going to check them out. It sounds like a fun and magical place!

Review: MERRIED by Jamie Farrell

Merried by Jamie Farrell is an enjoyable, flirty contemporary romance with a dash of mystery and suspense thrown in. Farrell’s ability to create original and unique characters in the same series is what has me coming back for more with each book. I was very excited that there is a bit of mystery in the plot as well.

30334034Max and Merry are two of my favorite characters in this series. They are perfect for each other. The chemistry is palpabale. Even when she fought it all the way for what she believed as a solid decision, she couldn’t help but be led by her heart always back to Max. Their conversation and interactions are so comfortable even while fighting. I enjoyed the maturity in Max and how he always wanted to help Merry with her own personal demons. The love scenes in Merried are smokin hot. With each book in the series you never know how many love scenes will show up, if any, and they always fit the story and character fantastically. Max and Merry’s romance was fun to watch from start to end, including the flashbacks of their earlier time together.

Each chapter started off with an excerpt from a Phoebe Moon book (a children’s book series written by Merry under a pen name) and the conversation between Merry and Phoebe in Merry’s mind is just hilarious. I can’t help but picture all authors I know talking to their characters like this at times. It was a fun aspect of the story and added yet another layer to Merry and the story.

The reason Merry was back in Bliss was because her mother was getting married again. The relationship between Merry and her Mom was so sweet to watch. Merry wanted nothing more than for her mom to be happy and the same held true for her mom. Family relationships are always touching and make you smile. The relationship between Merry and her Dad, however, was a bit more contentious. She had her hands full with him and it shaped her life. The ending with regards to her Father was not what I saw coming at all, but it was perfect.

Each of Farrell’s Misfit Brides books can be read as stand alones and if you are looking for a contemporary romance to read, give Merried a try. It shows Farrell’s fantastic story telling as well as her unique and sometimes quirky characters. I always have a warm heart and a happy sigh at the end of each book she writes.

Review: SUGARED by Jamie Farrell

What a fun story! Sugared by Jamie Farrell is the fourth book in the Misfit Brides Series. We meet Kimmie and Josh in previous books and while Kimmie is a constant character in the other books, Josh is pretty new to all of us. If you are looking for a sugary sweet romance story, this book is for you.

Sugared1800x2700-768x1152To be honest, I was nervous about reading Sugared. I loved the other books in the series and I adore Farrell’s writing, but Kimmie was never a character I really connected with. She was a little annoying in the other stories to me. Not in a mean way – just a little awkward and different than heroines I like to read about. You could probably say her character is a little too close to reality. I trust Farrell and knew that I would be getting a good story, plus I really wanted to know how she would write Kimmie’s romance so thats why I decided to go for it.

Kimmie is Kimmie. She is not your typical heroine. She is a sheltered woman who is awkward and quirky and skittish (loved that description from Mrs. Kincaid) but nice and loyal and has an amazing heart. She loves people. She loves to bake cake for people. She loves the joy it brings them. It was great to see how everyone in Bliss absolutely loves her and would do anything for her (except perhaps stand up to her mother). Who wouldn’t want to see a character like that get her happy ever after?
