I absolutely love holiday novellas! Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis is the type of story I look forward to each Christmas season. It is short, sweet, sexy, and entertaining from start to finish. It left me all warm, fuzzy, and happy sighing at the end. What else could a girl want?
In Holiday Wishes, Sean drives his brother and friends up to a Bed and Breakfast to celebrate his brother’s bachelor weekend. He unexpectedly runs into an old flame in Lotti, the Inn Keeper. Boy is that a blast from his past. Little does he realize Lotti’s feelings towards him are a little different.
Shalvis tells the story of how Sean and Lotti find their way back to a romance. It’s fun, it’s light, it’s super sexy. A lot happens in just a few days which makes it a bit of a whirlwind. If you enjoy holiday romance novels, give Holiday Wishes a read!

Whenever I don’t know what I am in the mood to read, I always look to Jill Shalvis and her books. They always enter and never disappoint. Such is the case with Accidentally on Purpose, the third book in her Heartbreaker Bay series. You don’t have to read these books in order as each one stands alone and is connected by characters or friends.
Archer and Elle are tough. Tough individuals and were a little tough for me to fall in love with at first. The way they avoided each other was somewhat annoying yet I couldn’t stop turning the pages and had a difficult time putting the book down. Shalvis’ writing is like that. Even if you are not instantly fond of how the characters are acting you still find yourself immersed in their lives and you just can’t turn away.
As the story played out my heart gave way to Archer and Elle when they both turned a corner on how they were approaching their relationshiop and letting their guards down a bit. Their chemistry was off the charts and they fell into a comfortable rhythm. Not every relationship is the same in real life which makes books more entertaining when you have a couple like this. Their bickering works for them. They like to push each other. They both like control. Shalvis did an excellent job with these two.
The supporting characters in the story are always great and I hope we get more of Joe and Spence in future books! I also adored the tiny bit of suspense this story offered. It was perfect for Archer and Elle’s story. If you are looking for a sexy, contemporary romance story, give Accidentally on Purpose a read.

Love! Jill Shlavis gave me an awesome Christmas present this year! Well, she gave me the opportunity to buy myself an early Christmas present – a short story about my favorite couple from the Lucky Harbor Series – Sawyer and Chloe from Head Over Heels. You could read this novella, Merry Christmas, Baby, on it’s own but it means a whole lot more if you have read Head Over Heels first.
Chloe is pregnant, moody and emotional and Sawyer is going off for a few days for DEA job. Not a great combination, right? Things are a bit tense between the two of them when he leaves and this causes all sorts of emotions from Chloe. Chloe, being Chloe is determined to have fun at a local Christmas party despite that everyone (including Sawyer) thinks she should stay home and off her feet. Well, we all know how well Chloe listens…
Lucky Harbor book #9. You would think after eight books in a contemporary series all set in the same town that things would get a little repetitive, right? Not so. Once In A Lifetime by Jill Shalvis does have the same great writing as previous books in the series, but the hero and heroine are different. Their struggles are different. The way they respond to one another are different. Even their passion is different. But it is all just as good as you would expect from the Lucky Harbor residents. And something that was the same as with all the other books in the series? I could not put it down.
The heroine, Aubrey is a mean girl all grown up and now wants to make amends with people she has wronged. The town still sees her as a troublemaker. The hero, Ben, is quiet and reserved. Everyone assumes he is still grieving the loss of his wife five years prior. The town loves him. Fate has put Ben and Aubrey together almost daily. These are two people least likely to get together, but, well, you can’t help who you fall in love with now, can you?
If you like contemporary romance and haven’t read Jill Shalvis yet, you are missing out on some enjoyable, humorous, emotional, sexy books. Rumor Has It is the fourth book in the Animal Magnetism series and probably the best one yet.
We get to follow Griffin and Kate’s love story in Rumor Has It. Griffin is Holly’s sister and Kate’s best friend. Holly happens to be marrying Griffin’s best friend Adam. If you have followed the series, Holly and Adam were the couple in Rescue My Heart. However, if you haven’t read this series yet, no worries. Each book is just as fun as a stand alone.
In real life I wouldn’t care much for a moody pain in the butt that Griffin is, but in a romance novel, heck yes, I love them. Especially when paired with a sweet, nice, but fiercely independent heroine like Kate. Kate doesn’t take Griffin’s crap, much to his surprise. It is one of he things he loves that about her.
I never tire of the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis. Really. Enough time passes between each one that when I pick up the latest one to read I can sigh, settle in and just enjoy the laughter and emotions that I will be experiencing throughout the book. Always On My Mind by Jill Shalvis is just as entertaining as the others. When you go back to Lucky Harbor your favorite characters (ahem, Sheriff Sawyer Thompson) always seem to pop in at some time or another so you feel like you are going back home (sort of like Leah).
Always On My Mind is the story of Leah, the pastry chef, and Jack the firefighter. They grew up together and have always been best friends. When Leah lies to Jack’s mom and says they are dating to make her happy, things get a little crazy. After all, everyone but Jack and Leah realize they aren’t really pretending. Jack and Leah are relatively serious people so the typical banter that we see in Jill’s books comes from the secondary characters trying to knock some sense into the two of them more than between the hero and heroine. They speak another language. Several times without any words at all. In addition to the wonderfully developed characters, Kevin the dog was quite a fun addition to the story.
If you are looking for fun, sexy, contemporary romance, you have got to try Jill Shalvis. Her Lucky Harbor series is my favorite with the small town nosey, quirky, people that will gossip about you on Facebook but then also stand behind you when things get tough. It Had To Be You is the 7th in the series and one of the best ones yet.
