I know when I pick up a Jill Shalvis story I will be thoroughly entertained with a fun storyline, hot chemistry, and witty dialogue. Hot Winter Nights was no different.  I have been reading the Heartbreaker Bay series a bit out of order, but they are still so much fun. In Hot Winter Nights, Molly and Lucas are center stage for the readers and their romance and personal challenges are quite engaging.

Molly works at Hunt Investigations behind a computer. She is excellent at her job but wants to be out in the field. Problem is, her boss and her brother don’t think she is ready and would like to keep her safe. Lucas is recovering from being shot weeks ago and is going stir crazy at not being able to get back into the action. What a perfect time for him to tag along with Molly on an unsanctioned (by her boss) case of the “Bad Santa.”

I love romantic suspense stories so I was glad Shalvis added a touch of it to Hot Winter Nights. While it is still very much a contemporary romance, the bit of suspense makes the story so much more interesting to me. She does a wonderful job weaving he romance, personal struggles, and investigation plots together.

Most that read Shalvis’ books want the hot romance and they will get it in Hot Winter Nights. Lucas and Molly have undeniable chemistry, a relatively easy going relationship and just work so well. They feed off one another and it makes you wonder how they survived this long without one another.

If you are looking for a contemporary romance story with a bit of suspense, give Hot Winter Nights a read. You will be hooked and ready for more books in the series!

Review: HOLIDAY WISHES by Jill Shalvis

I absolutely love holiday novellas! Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis is the type of story I look forward to each Christmas season. It is short, sweet, sexy, and entertaining from start to finish. It left me all warm, fuzzy, and happy sighing at the end. What else could a girl want?

In Holiday Wishes, Sean drives his brother and friends up to a Bed and Breakfast to celebrate his brother’s bachelor weekend. He unexpectedly runs into an old flame in Lotti, the Inn Keeper. Boy is that a blast from his past. Little does he realize Lotti’s feelings towards him are a little different.

Shalvis tells the story of how Sean and Lotti find their way back to a romance. It’s fun, it’s light, it’s super sexy. A lot happens in just a few days which makes it a bit of a whirlwind. If you enjoy holiday romance novels, give Holiday Wishes a read!

Whenever I don’t know what I am in the mood to read, I always look to Jill Shalvis and her books. They always enter and never disappoint. Such is the case with Accidentally on Purpose, the third book in her Heartbreaker Bay series. You don’t have to read these books in order as each one stands alone and is connected by characters or friends.

Archer and Elle are tough. Tough individuals and were a little tough for me to fall in love with at first. The way they avoided each other was somewhat annoying yet I couldn’t stop turning the pages and had a difficult time putting the book down. Shalvis’ writing is like that. Even if you are not instantly fond of how the characters are acting you still find yourself immersed in their lives and you just can’t turn away.

As the story played out my heart gave way to Archer and Elle when they both turned a corner on how they were approaching their relationshiop and letting their guards down a bit. Their chemistry was off the charts and they fell into a comfortable rhythm. Not every relationship is the same in real life which makes books more entertaining when you have a couple like this. Their bickering works for them. They like to push each other. They both like control. Shalvis did an excellent job with these two.

The supporting characters in the story are always great and I hope we get more of Joe and Spence in future books! I also adored the tiny bit of suspense this story offered. It was perfect for Archer and Elle’s story.  If you are looking for a sexy, contemporary romance story, give Accidentally on Purpose a read.

Review: MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY by Jill Shalvis

Love! Jill Shlavis gave me an awesome Christmas present this year! Well, she gave me the opportunity to buy myself an early Christmas present – a short story about my favorite couple from the Lucky Harbor Series – Sawyer and Chloe from Head Over Heels.  You could read this novella, Merry Christmas, Baby, on it’s own but it means a whole lot more if you have read Head Over Heels first.

Chloe is pregnant, moody and emotional and Sawyer is going off for a few days for DEA job. Not a great combination, right? Things are a bit tense between the two of them when he leaves and this causes all sorts of emotions from Chloe. Chloe, being Chloe is determined to have fun at a local Christmas party despite that everyone (including Sawyer) thinks she should stay home and off her feet. Well, we all know how well Chloe listens…

Review: ONCE IN A LIFETIME by Jill Shalvis

Lucky Harbor book #9. You would think after eight books in a contemporary series all set in the same town that things would get a little repetitive, right? Not so. Once In A Lifetime by Jill Shalvis does have the same great writing as previous books in the series, but the hero and heroine are different. Their struggles are different. The way they respond to one another are different. Even their passion is different. But it is all just as good as you would expect from the Lucky Harbor residents. And something that was the same as with all the other books in the series? I could not put it down.

oialtThe heroine, Aubrey is a mean girl all grown up and now wants to make amends with people she has wronged. The town still sees her as a troublemaker. The hero, Ben, is quiet and reserved. Everyone assumes he is still grieving the loss of his wife five years prior. The town loves him. Fate has put Ben and Aubrey together almost daily. These are two people least likely to get together, but, well, you can’t help who you fall in love with now, can you?
