Review: FULL THROTTLE by Julie Ann Walker

Are you ready for an adventure that takes you to the Malaysian jungle with the president’s daughter, a few terrorists, and an ex Army Ranger? That is where you will find yourself in Full Throttle by Julie Ann Walker, another book in her Black Knights, Inc series! If you haven’t read this series, I encourage you to do so. While each book has it’s own plot there are characters and an ongoing plot that runs through each book, so reading from beginning to end is best.

President Thompson’s daughter, Abby, is kidnapped. Secret Service agents are down. It’s Carlos and the BKI boys to the rescue! Carlos and Abby have been friends for almost a decade but haven’t been in touch for many of those years. Yet, when they reconnect, it’s as if they never had that break in time. The chemistry between them as friends amazing. Their big love scene was absolutely off the charts hot. There is just so much respect for one another that it is the whole package.

Walker pens another fantastic romantic suspense story that is unique and individual to the characters in Full Throttle. As with other books in the series, we also get a side romance story with another couple. Dan from BKI and Penni, a Secret Service Agent hit it off from the beginning. That big question with them is whether Dan can overcome the pain of losing his wife a few years back and open his heart up to love Penni. We’ll find out in Too Hard To Handle.

We are introduced to the SEAL team that is part of the Deep Six series in this book which makes me even more excited about another series of Walker’s. If you are looking for a story that will give you action, love, brothers-in-arms, bad guys, and heroes, give Full Throttle a read.

Review: HOT PURSUIT by Julie Ann Walker

Julie Ann Walker has done it again. Each new Black Knights Inc book I read I love it a little more than the last one. While I once was annoyed by Emily and Christian in a previous book, I absolutely loved them in Hot Pursuit. In this book, we find Emily, Christian, Ace, Rusty, and Angel trying to get the heck out of England when a piece of Christian’s past comes back to make life difficult for the team. As with all of the BKI books, this one is filled with suspense, intense emotions, new romance, and a whole lot of passion.

From the witty banter between the characters, the hilarious internal monologues and the fresh and current voice that Walker offers, Hot Pursuit is a fun book from start to finish and had me furiously flipping pages and hanging on each word. She keeps the reader wanting to read just one more page but before you know it you are at the end! This story is the one that keeps you from sleep, housework, and other aspects of life that demand your attention.

If you have read previous BKI books, you know the men and women know how to handle their weapons. In Hot Pursuit, they are left without weapons and have to outsmart and outrun their threats. It brought about a bit of simplicity, yet was just as exciting to see what they had to plan and what would happen when confronted by armed men.

Now, let’s get to the romance part of the story. Christian and Emily bicker. They push each other’s buttons. They are both irritating. But they also have secrets that explain their personalities. Watching them discover the softer side of each other and how good they are together was truly rewarding. It was like your two best friends finally gave into their feelings for one another and you just know it is a match made in heaven. Walker did such a lovely job with the two of them from the way they poke fun at each other to their love making and the deep down love they show one another. It was fan-freaking-tastic.

One thing a bit different in Hot Pursuit compared to the other books in the series, is that Walker gave us a teaser of a relationship between two males – Rusty and Ace. While I typically am not interested in male/male stories, I was very intrigued by this one. The source of their arguing and what is preventing them from getting together is one I can’t wait to find out how they solve. Even if you are not interested in male/male books, you can still read this one just fine, as the relationship doesn’t really go far yet.

If you are looking for a romantic suspense to read next, give Hot Pursuit a read. It is an extraordinary story that will have you thinking about the characters long after you finish the book.

Review: HELL FOR LEATHER by Julie Ann Walker

As much as I love the BKI books, Hell For Leather by Julie Ann Walker wasn’t my favorite. It started a little slow for me with lots of inner monologue and broody attitude that wasn’t doing it for me. I like Mac and Delilah as people but Mac’s inner conflict with himself and Delilah’s pushiness with him annoyed me a bit.

I love Walker’s books, so I kept reading because I had faith. As the plot thickened I found myself more intrigued. I wanted to know what the terrorists wanted with Uncle Theo. And when the you-know-what really hit the fan I loved how Mac’s walls dropped and he allowed himself to let Delilah in to comfort and protect her. She also let her badass guard down and things clicked for the two. But then when things got better they put those masks on again. Ugh! Of course there is a happy ever after so things ended up fine in the end, but the journey was just rather difficult and painful.

The other BKI boys always make me smile and in Hell For Leather Dagan gets reunited with former CIA coworker Chelsea. They are a treat to watch. Lots of verbal sparring and lust going on with them. They will be exciting to read about in books to come.

If you are looking for a really good romantic suspense series give the BKI books a shot. Each one builds on another but you can read them individually too.

Review: BORN WILD by Julie Ann Walker

I cannot get enough of the Black Knights Inc, books by Julie Ann Walker! I have read them a bit out of order, but it still works since they each have their own plot. The only downside is that each book sets up the main characters for the next book in the series. It’s ideal to read them in order, but not required. I recently finished Born Wild and loved it as much as the other ones!

In Born Wild we follow Bill and Eve’s story. The two are reunited lovers with a lot of emotional baggage. I wasn’t sure they would get through all of it at first. Interlaced with their love story is a dangerous mystery to solve. Someone wants Eve Edens dead but she has no idea who and since the police are not worried about it, chalking her “accidents” up to just that, she turns to the BKI boys, specifically Bill Reichert.

Walker gives us a page turner in Born Wild with a heart-racing suspense, emotional romance, steamy love scenes, and sexy heroes to the rescue. We also have a prequel of sorts to Mac and Delilah’s story in the next BKI book, Hell For Leather, and that one is going to be interesting given what we saw of the two of them in Born Wild. I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

If you are looking for a romantic suspense book to get your heart racing whether it be in the middle of a squall on lake Michigan, a life threatening shoot-out, or in the throes of passion, give Born Wild a read.

Review: FUEL FOR FIRE by Julie Ann Walker

Fuel for Fire by Julie Ann Walker had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. It’s one of those stories that has you reading as fast as you can to get to the end but also don’t want it to ever be over. Dagan and Chelsea are amazing characters. They are so real with each other from pouring out their love intimately to suffering and struggling after Chelsea shares her big bad secret. It was emotional, raw and so riveting.

As for the danger and suspense, Walker does a fabulous job of setting up the scenes and describing them in enough detail to feel like you are living them out with the characters. I think at some point throughout the story I felt anxious, scared, joyful, happy, sad, and a heart so full of love that it was going to burst at the end. It was my kind of story.

The adventure that was getting Chelsea back to America was creative and original. One of the things I love about the BKI books is that they are all so different. It’s not the same story with different characters. Each is unique in its own way and so well written for the characters.

If you have read any of the other BKI books you know that Walker usually has a side story going on and in this one we see more of Christian and Emily. I wasn’t fond of them in the last book because their bickering really got to me, but they each showed a vulnerable side when it came to the other one and I am now looking forward to reading their book.

Fuel for Fire is an incredible romantic suspense story with the perfect blend of action and adventure paired with a refreshing, passionate love story. It might be one of my favorite ones so far!
