Review: UNDER PRESSURE by Lori Foster

In Under Pressure by Lori Foster, Catalina Nicholson used to live a quiet life of an art teacher. Six weeks ago she overheard her step-father and a very powerful man discussing the murder and rape of a young woman. Cat has been on the run since that day, trusting no one until she meets Leese Phillips. Leese, a retired MMA fighter and body guard for the Body Armor Agency has been hired to protect Cat. Cat, like any woman, can’t help but be dazzled by Leese’s good looks and ripped body Gradually though, she comes to trust Leese and confesses who her enemy is. As Leese tries to stay one step ahead of Cat’s enemy, he begins to fall in love with his feisty client. Can Leese protect Cat? Will Cat trust Leese with her heart?

Readers of Foster’s Ultimate Fighting series might remember Leese from that series. Leese realized that he wasn’t good enough to be a champion, so he retired and became a body guard instead. Leese makes for quite the hero. Like so many of Foster’s male characters, he has a very rigid moral code that he believes in and upholds. You definitely want Leese to be fighting on your side.

Cat is such a firecracker. She is determined to survive and is very bold in her observations on life. Once Leese is able to get her to safety, Cat emerges completely from her shell and a strong protective side of her comes out.

Leese and Cat make for a great couple. They are opposites that actually mesh perfectly together Their love scenes unquestionably add a good deal of heat to this suspenseful plot.

Under Pressure is the first book in the new series Body Armor by Lori Foster. Foster has once again delivered a book with all of her signature writing styles: hot honorable Alpha male hero, a spunky heroine, and a intriguing plot that will keep readers turning the page. If you like romantic suspense, this book would be a good read for you.

Review: BARE IT ALL by Lori Foster

In Bare It All by Lori Foster, Alice Appleton is trying to rebuild her life after she helped take down a human trafficker. The reclusive woman is no match for a neighbor’s sweet puppy though and when she learns that Detective Reese Bareden needs a puppy sitter she is more than happy to watch the adorable Cash. The arrangement brings the two closer together and after Alice helps Reese out on his last case, Reese decides he should get to know Alice a little better. When Alice rescues a young woman from being used as a drug mule, she unknowingly puts herself at risk. As Reese tries to protect her it becomes obvious that they are now more than friends. Can Reese keep Alice safe? Is Reese finally ready to settle down?

Alice has been in two previous books by Foster and it wasn’t until I read the author’s notes that it dawned on me who Alice was, which is exactly what Foster intended. Alice is a quiet woman who needs to blend into her surroundings to stay safe. Fearing retaliation at any moment, Alice has created a life where her contact with the outside world is minimum.

Don’t let this shy mouse fool you though. Alice is absolutely perfect for Reese since she keeps him on his toes. Alice isn’t shy with her observations on life, especially when it comes to Reese and his good looks. Several of her comments had me laughing to myself because she was so blunt about her attraction to Reese and how much she wanted him.

Reese is a very protective alpha male. Once he decides that he’s going to keep an eye on Alice he starts making his territory. Like all of Foster’s heroes, Reese is an extremely honorable man with a very defined moral code. Hearing what Alice went through when she was kidnapped makes him redouble his protective instincts towards her.

The suspense plot in this book is very good. When Alice saves a young woman from a drug dealer, it puts her in danger of revenge. Unknown to Alice, the tattoo she sees on the girl is connected to other crimes, including Reese’s current case. Fortunately, Alice has a lot of protectors including Trace from Foster’s Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series.

Bare It All is the second book in the Love Undercover series by Lori Foster. Foster has delivered another great romance with lovable characters and a gripping story line. Anyone who enjoys romantic suspense should read this series.

Review: RUN THE RISK by Lori Foster

In Run the Risk by Lori Foster, Detective Logan Riske is determined to solve the murder of his best friend. Following up on a potential lead, Logan goes undercover to get information from Pepper Yates. Pepper is hiding from a crime boss and is undercover herself. No one would suspect that plain Sue Meeks, an apartment manager, is actually the drop dead gorgeous Pepper Yates. When her new tenant and next door neighbor moves in, Pepper can’t help but notice he’s hot, but she knows she has to keep him at a distance just like everyone else. Will Logan be able to get Sue/Pepper to open up to him? Can Sue/Pepper resist the temptation that is Logan Riske?

Pepper definitely picked the wrong career for herself! She should have gone into acting. Her transformation into Sue Meeks is nothing short of amazing. Everything she did from her appearance to her demeanor was done to divert attention away from her. When she finally breaks her cover, Logan is shocked by the confident sexy siren that emerges.

The chemistry between Pepper and Logan starts out at a low boil but by the end of the book it’s at a raging boil. There are some interesting love scenes between Sue/Pepper and Logan, mainly because of the rules she sets for their entanglement. Once Pepper throws off her disguise, she more than makes up for lost time with Logan.

There is a lot of intrigue in this book that makes for an interesting plot. Not so much as to who committed the murder but as to who knows what. The only people that seem trustworthy until the end of the book is Logan and his brother.

Run the Risk is the first book in the Love Undercover series by Lori Foster. Always a guaranteed good read, Foster once again delivers with sexy leading characters and an intriguing, suspenseful plot. Readers who love romantic suspense should give this book a read.

Review: NEVER TOO MUCH by Lori Foster

In Never Too Much by Lori Foster Ben Badwin loves women. He’s content to remain a bachelor and play the field. That is until he notices his sexy new neighbor Sierra Murphy. There’s just something about Sierra that has Ben rethinking his allergy to commitment. Sierra is trying to rebuild her life after a disastrous marriage. She has no time for men but she can’t deny her attraction to Ben. Sierra decides that the best way to get him out of her system is to have a one night stand with him. Can Ben change her mind and get her to commit to him?

19083234Sierra Murphy was such a great character in this book. She was fiercely independent and determined to live life on her own terms. She fought against her attraction to Ben so hard. It was like watching a tree fall: you know she’s going to fall but the question is how fast and hard.

There was an interesting secondary romance in this book between Ben’s mother and Sierra ‘ s best friend. I would have loved to have read more about Brooke and Kent. It was fun reading about calm and collected Brooke getting riled up by Kent.

Review: GETTING ROWDY by Lori Foster

Getting Rowdy by Lori Foster is a captivating and emotional read that you will find is hard to put down. I can’t believe I am starting Lori’s Love Undercover Series on the third book. I saw she had a new series out and wanted to read it but time and other books seemed to get in the way.  However, now that I have read Getting Rowdy, I really want to go back and read the first two. I didn’t feel lost or that I was missing anything reading Getting Rowdy – it is just that the secondary characters were so awesome that I want to read their stories, too.

Rowdy Yates is the owner of a bar in which Avery Mullins is the bartender.  Rowdy is quite the ladies man and never lacks for company. Avery is very careful with who she spends her time with since she is running away from a man that wanted to control her. Rowdy pursues Avery but she continues to turn him down. After all, she knows what Rowdy is like and doesn’t want to be just another one night stand. When someone from Avery’s past starts to threaten her, though, she turns to Rowdy for protection. As they spend more time together, they realize how compatible they are.
